The following economics journals have frequent contributions on innovation related topics. The selection is based on the following criteria:

Publications from 2005 to 2008
Journal is listed in the economics domain of the SSCI
Keyword search for innovation related articles in ISI Web of Knowledge (innovation, R&D, techn* change, creative destruction, patent)
Relevance of each article to the field
Journal has at least 20 articles according to the keyword search from 2005 and 2008 together, and at least 10 articles after elimination of articles that are not relevant to the field

Note: The share of innovation related articles in a journal can fluctuate over time, e.g. due to special issues or changes in editorial policy. In addition, the applied search procedure may miss relevant articles. Therefore I only report three rough categories instead of precise numbers of innovation related articles in each journal.

Other important journals

In addition to the journals listed above, numerous other journals frequently publish important articles on the economics of innovation, most notably Industry and Innovation (which is not yet listed in the SSCI journal impact reports), Economics of Innovation and New Technology (which is not yet listed in the SSCI) and Research Policy (which is listed as a management journal). All three of these journals would belong to the top category of publishing more than 20% of their articles on innovation.

Management journals specializing on innovation related topics include Technovation, International Journal of Technology Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Research-Technology Management, R&D Management and the Journal of Product Innovation Management.
